About The Position

Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and flexible individual for a Patient Service Specialist (PSS) role in their Outpatient clinics. This PRN (as needed) position requires the candidate to travel to multiple outpatient clinics in the Addison, Farmers Branch, Carrollton, Coppell, Plano, and Richardson areas. The ideal candidate will be a team player who can also work independently, consistently delivering outstanding customer service and ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and accurately. The role involves coordinating patient appointments, registering patient information, verifying insurance, collecting payments, scanning medical documents, reconciling charges, responding to requests for information, and maintaining office supplies. Flexibility in schedule to meet center needs and willingness to travel to different locations for coverage are essential.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED is required.

Responsibilities

Check in and check out patients.
Verify patient insurance and obtain required authorizations.
Schedule patient appointments, working to minimize cancellations and support treatment adherence.
Register patient information, ensuring all forms are complete and accurate in the electronic medical record.
Explain patient benefits, financial responsibilities, billing, and outpatient policies.
Collect patient responsibility payments at each visit.
Scan and maintain medical documents.
Reconcile and post charges daily and perform other reporting to ensure clean claim processing.
Respond to requests for information from patients, other departments, and physicians.
Maintain office supplies and manage mail.
Adjust schedule to meet center needs.
Attend all mandatory meetings and in-service education programs.
Travel to non-home location centers or other sites for coverage when necessary.
