About The Position

Banner Rehabilitation Hospital - Tucson Day Neuro Institute is seeking a Patient Service Specialist (PSS) for a full-time, Monday-Friday position. Our comprehensive Day Neuro Rehabilitation Program offers a wide range of specialty services for individuals with acquired brain injuries, including traumatic brain injury, stroke, brain tumors, or other neurological conditions. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Data entry experience required.
  • Customer service and interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with staff members, supportive personnel, patients, physicians, and community members required.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified BLS preferred.
  • Two years in a medical office setting that requires multi-tasking preferred.
  • Knowledge of insurance verification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform tasks including check-in, check-out, insurance verifications, scheduling, report generation, faxing, scanning, and other office duties in a fast-paced environment.
  • Provide outstanding customer service to patients and staff.
  • Coordinate patient appointments, working with the Center Manager to minimize cancellations and support treatment adherence.
  • Register patient information, ensuring all forms are complete with signatures and accurate documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Verify patient insurance, obtain required authorizations before patient visits, and explain benefits, financial responsibilities, billing, and outpatient policies.
  • Collect patient financial responsibility at each visit.
  • Scan and maintain medical documents.
  • Reconcile and post charges daily, and perform other reporting to ensure clean claim processing.
  • Respond to all requests for information from patients, other departments, and physicians.
  • Maintain office organization, order supplies, and manage mail.
  • Adjust schedule to meet center needs.
  • Travel to non-home location centers or other sites for coverage when necessary.
  • Attend all mandatory meetings and in-service education programs.
