About The Position

Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation is seeking a Patient Service Specialist - Float to cover various locations including Murphy, Wylie, Sachse, Rowlett, Garland, and Allen. The role involves a varying schedule between Monday and Friday, 7 am to 7 pm. This position requires a customer service-oriented individual with strong attention to detail, capable of working in a fast-paced environment. The Patient Service Specialist will be responsible for various administrative and patient-facing tasks, including check-in/check-out, insurance verification, scheduling, and maintaining medical records. The role also involves coordinating patient appointments, ensuring accurate patient registration, collecting payments, managing medical documents, and responding to information requests. The specialist will also maintain office supplies and manage mail. A willingness to adjust schedules to meet center needs and travel to different locations for coverage is essential.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Check in and check out patients
  • Verify insurance information
  • Schedule patient appointments
  • Generate reports
  • Handle faxing and scanning of documents
  • Perform other office duties
  • Coordinate patient appointments to minimize cancellations and support treatment adherence
  • Register patient information, ensuring all forms are complete and accurate
  • Document information in the electronic medical record
  • Obtain required insurance authorizations before patient visits
  • Explain patient benefits, financial responsibilities, billing, and outpatient policies
  • Collect patient responsibility payments at each visit
  • Scan and maintain medical documents
  • Reconcile and post charges daily
  • Generate reports to ensure clean claim processing
  • Respond to requests for information from patients, other departments, and physicians
  • Maintain office supplies and manage mail
  • Adjust schedule to center needs
  • Travel to non-home location centers or other sites for coverage when necessary
  • Attend all mandatory meetings and in-service education programs
