This full-time role is responsible for creating the initial electronic health record, preventing duplicate records, and ensuring patient safety through positive identification. The Patient Service Representative checks in and registers patients, obtains and verifies demographic and insurance information, and collects co-pays. They maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, understand insurance basics, and discuss financial obligations with patients. The role also involves referring patients to Financial Advocates and ensuring compliance with government regulations such as HIPAA, EMTALA, and others. Responsibilities may include scheduling appointments, providing information on test preparations, performing visit closures, and educating patients on the patient portal. The position requires creating a welcoming environment, demonstrating excellent customer service, answering telephones, and maintaining public relations. Proactive communication of issues and offering assistance to patients are also key. Additional duties may include e-scanning documents, managing electronic health record work queues, and assisting with orientation and training.
