This position assists the RN with the daily care of patients, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders, and ambulation. It involves measuring and documenting vital signs, intake and output, and patient data. The role requires accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), performing purposeful rounding, and communicating observations to the RN. Responsibilities also include assisting with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring patient call lights are within reach, and collecting specimens. The CNA will also perform various errands, maintain nursing area stock, clean equipment and work areas, and assist with patient positioning and transportation, which may involve lifting and pushing/pulling. Tasks related to nutritional needs and maintaining skin integrity are also part of the role. Under RN direction, may be required to remove IVs, provide post mortem care, and perform bladder scans. The position requires adherence to infection prevention policies, including hand hygiene and knowledge of sterile and aseptic procedures. The CNA must demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate for the age of the patients served, understanding principles of growth and development.
