This is a 0.5 FTE position on 3rd/night shift, working (8) hour shifts from 23:00 to 07:30. The role involves creating the initial electronic health record, preventing duplicate records, and ensuring patient safety through positive identification. Responsibilities include checking in and registering patients, obtaining and verifying demographic and insurance information, collecting co-pays, maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, and understanding insurance basics. The position requires knowledge of Advocate Health contracts, when financial responsibility statements are needed, and how to refer patients to Financial Advocates. It also involves ensuring compliance with government regulations such as HIPAA, EMTALA, and others, obtaining necessary signatures, and potentially scheduling appointments, coordinating cancellations, and reschedules. The role provides accurate information regarding test preparations and facility details, creates a welcoming environment with extraordinary customer service, answers telephones, screens calls, and offers assistance to patients. Additionally, the position monitors and works assigned electronic health record work queues.
