About The Position

Performs charge entry, posting of co-payments, training of registration and charge entry staff, quality improvement monitoring and auditing. This position is involved in a team-based approach to care. Team members are trained to meet the highest level of function for their role as per the State of Tennessee/Georgia guidelines. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to coordinate care for patients and is trained and assigned to support patients/families/caregivers in self-management, self-efficacy and behavior change. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to manage the practices' patient population. Participates in the practice's quality improvement process and performance evaluation.

Requirements

  • High School education or its equivalent in education achievement
  • Medical terminology course or equivalent experience
  • Physician office and/or hospital experience required
  • CPT/ICD 9 experience
  • Front desk/receptionist experience
  • Must be able to successfully complete IDX/Invision training based on established guidelines
  • Must be able to work with people, always poised, courteous, pleasing personality, good telephone voice and able to meet the public

Nice To Haves

  • Prior IDX/Invision experience a plus
  • CPC Certificate (Certified Procedural Coder)
  • CCS Certified (Certified Coding Specialist)

Responsibilities

  • Greeting patients and the public
  • Answering and screening telephone calls
  • Daily patient reminder calls

  • Preparing the medical records

  • Serving as the liaison between the patient and medical support staff

  • Balancing charges and collections at the end of each day
  • Making daily deposits
  • Accounts receivable, billing and insurance functions
  • Performing general office duties such as data entry
  • Office and medical supply ordering

  • Assisting with JCAHO/DNV requirements
