About The Position

Be the first smile patients see and help create an exceptional healthcare experience. Raleigh Medical Group is seeking a friendly, organized, and customer-focused Patient Service Representative (PSR) to join our team. As the first point of contact for patients and visitors, this role is essential in delivering outstanding customer service while supporting patient registration, scheduling, insurance verification, payment collection, and daily front office operations. The Patient Service Representative plays a vital role in ensuring a positive patient experience through professional communication, attention to detail, and efficient workflow management.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn practice management and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
  • Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Professional telephone etiquette
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately

Nice To Haves

  • Previous medical office, front desk, scheduling, customer service, or patient registration experience
  • Experience utilizing Electronic Health Record (EHR) and practice management systems
  • Knowledge of insurance verification, patient registration, and referral processes
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors in a professional, courteous, and welcoming manner
  • Verify and update patient demographic, insurance, and registration information to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Provide and review registration documents, consent forms, HIPAA documentation, and other required patient paperwork
  • Scan and maintain insurance cards and patient documentation within the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
  • Collect copays, deductibles, outstanding balances, and other patient payments at the time of service
  • Verify insurance eligibility and communicate with appropriate departments regarding referrals, authorizations, and insurance concerns
  • Answer incoming telephone calls, route inquiries appropriately, and provide excellent customer service
  • Complete patient check-in and checkout processes while ensuring all required documentation is obtained
  • Assist with referrals, administrative paperwork, and patient-related documentation as needed
  • Provide support to the Medical Records department when requested
  • Collaborate with clinical, billing, operational, and administrative teams to support coordinated patient care
  • Assist with training and onboarding of new staff members as assigned
  • Participate in departmental meetings, training programs, and organizational initiatives
  • Cross-train in departmental functions and provide coverage as needed
  • Provide early shift and late stay coverage as assigned
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
