About The Position
Orthopedic Associates of Hartford, P.C., an orthopedic practice established in 1970, is seeking a Patient Service Representative for its Billing & Collections team at the Farmington business office. The successful candidate will be dependable, organized, enthusiastic, and detail oriented, with a positive can-do attitude. The role involves responding to patient and physician-office questions about patient balances, updating patient demographics, and explaining Explanation of Benefits statements. The representative communicates with patients and staff in a prompt, pleasant, and helpful manner.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Basic knowledge of insurance billing requirements and how to read an Explanation of Benefits.
- Previous experience with Epic EMR systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
- Computer skills, including online insurance websites and Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Organized and detail oriented, with excellent follow-up skills.
Responsibilities
- Handle incoming calls from patients and physician offices regarding patient balances due.
- Update patient demographics.
- Read, understand, and explain Explanation of Benefits statements to patients.
- Communicate with patients and staff in a prompt, pleasant, and helpful manner.
