Performs reception, registration and billing functions in the front office of the Medical Practice to facilitate the effective delivery of patient care. This role is responsible for maintaining exemplary patient satisfaction and participating as an engaged team member. The Patient Service Representative will greet and direct patients, inform them of delays, and communicate schedule changes. They will also be responsible for scheduling appointments, registering demographic and billing information, determining eligibility for services, and successfully using EMR and other computer applications. Maintaining medical records, preparing encounter forms, determining and collecting co-pays and deductibles, preparing cash receipts and bank deposits, and balancing the cash drawer are also key functions. Additionally, this role involves converting diagnosis descriptions to ICD-9 codes, posting charges and payments, reviewing rejected claims, assisting with collections, preparing phone notes, making patient calls for appointment reminders, distributing mail, determining eligibility and obtaining authorization for services, scheduling tests and appointments for referred services, tracking referrals, participating in quality initiatives and safety functions, and assisting in identifying and ordering needed supplies. The position requires remaining informed and compliant with current Health System, Warren Clinic, HIPAA, and OSHA policies and procedures.
