About The Position

Jane Pauley Community Health Center is seeking a Patient Service Representative (PSR) to provide a welcoming first point of contact for patients in person and by phone. The role supports scheduling, registration, insurance verification, and patient service in an integrated community health center serving individuals and families across Indiana. This is a float position that provides coverage across the JPCHC network during staffing shortages. It requires reliable transportation and the flexibility to travel between practice sites as needed.

Requirements

Knowledge of medical office practices.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
Ability to adapt quickly and travel between practice sites as needed.
Basic computer literacy and accuracy in data entry.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
At least two years of experience in an ambulatory healthcare setting preferred.

Responsibilities

Greet and assist patients and families in a professional and friendly manner.
Schedule patient appointments and manage inbound calls, answering by the third ring.
Collect and verify patient demographic and insurance information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
Determine patient eligibility for financial assistance programs and obtain required documentation.
Collect patient co-payments and follow JPCHC money-handling procedures.
Assist with medical record requests and correspondence, and respond to messages within one business day.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the patient waiting area.
Provide coverage across JPCHC locations during staffing shortages.
Participate in departmental and organizational meetings.
Perform other duties as assigned.
