This is a part-time position in the Enterprise Revenue Cycle department, working 20 hours per week on the 2nd shift (3:00 pm to 11:30 pm), with every other weekend and holiday rotation. The role involves creating the initial electronic health record, preventing duplicate records, and ensuring patient safety through proper identification. Responsibilities include checking in and registering patients, collecting demographic and insurance information, discussing and collecting co-pays, and maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA. The position requires knowledge of insurance basics, Advocate Health contracts, and financial obligations, as well as compliance with government regulations like EMTALA, HIPAA, and Medicare notices. The role may also involve scheduling appointments and providing detailed information to patients about preparations and procedures. A key aspect is creating a welcoming and professional environment through exceptional customer service, including greeting patients, answering phones, and assisting with various needs. The Patient Service Representative will also monitor electronic health record work queues.
