Advocate Medical Group Orland Park is seeking a Patient Service Representative for their clinic. This role is crucial for providing efficient, high-quality service to patients who arrive for appointments or contact the clinic via phone or in person. The Patient Service Representative will be responsible for creating the initial electronic health record, preventing duplicate records, ensuring patient safety through positive identification, registering patients, collecting co-pays, and maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA. They will also need to understand insurance basics, contract details, and financial obligations, referring patients to Financial Advocates when necessary. The role involves adhering to government regulations and requirements, potentially scheduling appointments, providing detailed information about procedures and preparations, and managing visit closures. Additionally, the Patient Service Representative will educate patients on the patient portal, create a welcoming environment, handle routine requests, answer telephones, and maintain positive public relations. Proactive communication with management regarding customer service and process improvement is expected. Assistance may be provided to patients with transportation, directions, wheelchairs, and interpreter services. Responsibilities may also include e-scanning documents, managing faxes and in-basket messages, and assisting with orientation and training.
