About The Position

Albany Medical Center has an exciting opportunity for Patient Care Associates to join their team. The ideal candidate must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, both independently and on a team. This is a full-time position (36 hours/week) structured as three, convenient, 12-hour shifts. This is an onsite position at Latham EmUrgentCare, with some, reimbursable, travel required. The role is responsible for the registration and scheduling process for complex patients, updating the system with registration, scheduling and insurance information, and preparing patient disability and out of work/school paperwork. The associate will also discuss financial obligations, explain regulatory forms, and answer any questions. They will work in multiple systems during patient-facing interactions and telephone call receipts to complete accurate registration and support the clinical workflow. The role requires understanding the practice and hospital strategic plan, supporting plans, policy and procedures, and initiatives within scope of their departments expectations and role. The associate represents AMC and supports the ideals and principles of their department, the Practice, the Hospital and the Center, exemplifying Albany Med CARES guiding principles. They are a champion to ensure an optimal patient experience, understand and promote patient and employee safety as the top priority, promote a safe environment, and promptly report issues. They understand patient safety goals.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic Medical Terminology
  • Multi-tasking as a team player in a fast-paced setting
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • High School Diploma/G.E.D. - required

Nice To Haves

  • 2-3 years office experience or one year of related experience in a medical practice - preferred
  • Experience using an electronic health record and Microsoft Office a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain equipment and examination rooms at all times
  • Collect vitals and brief medical history of patients
  • Directing patients to examination rooms
  • Ensuring rooms are setup for efficient patient care
  • Ordering and re-stocking of medical supplies
  • Team support to medical providers and front desk
  • Responsible for registration and scheduling process for complex patients.
  • Responsible for updating the system with registration, scheduling and insurance information.
  • Prepares patient disability and out of work / school paperwork.
