The associate must be knowledgeable about state and government agency requirements for patient consents, as well as payer requirements for referrals and authorizations. They will schedule follow-up appointments, referrals, and prior authorizations, and communicate professionally with providers, patients, clinical care teams, and insurance companies. Additionally, the role includes answering phone calls, directing them appropriately, and maintaining a professional image through adherence to the dress code. The position also involves preparing patient disability and out-of-work/school paperwork, discussing financial obligations, explaining regulatory forms, and working in multiple systems to ensure accurate registration and support clinical workflow. The associate is expected to understand and support the practice and hospital's strategic plans, policies, and procedures, representing Albany Medical Center and exemplifying its guiding principles to ensure an optimal patient experience and promote safety.
