About The Position

This position provides oversight to a patient or a group of patients. This position is responsible to communicate with the Registered Nurse (RN) upon arrival, departure and as appropriate throughout the shift. The RN will provide instruction to this position as to the expectations and any pertinent patient information. Will ensure the environment is safe and secure at all times. Is aware of the patient’s code status and pertinent restrictions and report any issues or concerns to the RN. As a Patient Safety Associate, you will be working primarily in the Emergency Department but can be utilized throughout the hospital. Your main goal is to provide a safe environment and offer companionship to those patients who need extra care. This is a per diem opportunity that will work as determined by department needs. We are looking for someone who can be flexible working varied schedules and hours.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
  • BLS certification is required within 30 days of start date.
  • Mandatory safety, hazardous materials, and infection control in-services will be included in orientation and required on a periodic basis.

Responsibilities

  • Follows a plan communicated by the RN when providing support services to patients.
  • Communicates the services provided to the patient with the supervisor/Registered Nurse.
  • Communicates changes in the patient’s condition, environment or situation to the RN.
  • May practice de-escalation techniques and intervene early with approved diversional activities
  • Provides observation, diversion, and communication to ensure a safe environment.
  • Provides excellent customer service to a variety of internal and external customers.
