About The Position

The Patient Relations Specialist provides Revenue Cycle Management services for Azalea clients and operates under the direct supervision of the Associate Manager, RCM Support. This role is responsible for delivering excellent customer service to the patients of Azalea RCM Clients, explaining insurance processing and the revenue cycle of claims to help them understand outstanding patient responsibility amounts. The specialist will manage inbound RCM-related patient telephone coverage, ensuring quick turnaround times for messages, and thoroughly verifying caller identities to maintain HIPAA compliance. Additionally, the role involves managing patient statement processing and bad debt collections for assigned accounts, preparing and submitting documentation on behalf of clients' patients, and completing various Revenue Cycle Management tasks such as data entry, claim generation and submission, payment processing, and report creation. Administrative duties like mail processing, filing, answering phones, and faxing are also part of the responsibilities. A working knowledge of CPT, ICD10, and HCPCS codes, along with awareness of regulatory coding changes, is expected. Maintaining HIPAA compliance when handling patient protected health information (PHI) is crucial. Other assigned Revenue Cycle Management duties may also be required.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for delivery of excellent customer service to the patients of Azalea RCM Clients.
  • Explains insurance processing and the revenue cycle of claims to patients to help them better understand any outstanding patient responsibility amounts due to Azalea RCM Clients.
  • Responsible for all inbound RCM-related patient telephone coverage during regular business hours with quick turnaround time responses for voice messages left after hours.
  • Thoroughly verifies identity of persons calling requesting information, maintaining HIPAA compliance and only giving information to those individuals with proper access.
  • Manages patient statement processing and bad debt collections processes for assigned accounts as directed by RCM Account Coordinators.
  • Preparing and submitting documentation (ledgers, patient statements, medical records) on behalf of Azalea RCM Client's patients as requested from approved parties.
  • Completes various tasks related to our Revenue Cycle Management service, including: general data entry into web-based software/applications, medical claim generation and submission, insurance and patient payment processing, report creation and analysis.
  • Responsible for other administrative duties including not limited to: inbound/outbound mail processing, filing, answering phones, faxing, copying, scanning, etc.
  • Demonstrates a good working knowledge of CPT, ICD10, and HCPCS codes as well as remaining current on regulatory coding changes.
  • Maintains HIPAA compliance when handling patient protected health information (PHI).
  • Responsible for other Revenue Cycle Management-related duties, as assigned.
