Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Excellent typing, computer navigation, and phone etiquettes are required.
  • Proactive problem solver, exceptionally empathetic, and highly organized under pressure.

Nice To Haves

  • AAS degree in health administration, business, or finance preferred.
  • 1 year of healthcare or insurance experience is preferred, but open to any strong customer service background.
  • Familiarity with baseline medical terminology or anatomy is a plus, but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Greet arriving oncology patients, verify their identities, guide visitors, and manage waiting areas to eliminate long delays.
  • Pre-verify insurance, emergency contacts, and demographic info ahead of schedule to minimize patient wait times.
  • Collect professional and facility co-pays, scan insurance cards, securely obtain HIPAA signatures, and accurately update Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
  • Coordinate directly with schedulers and care teams to resolve immediate check-in issues, routing phone calls and alerting staff to patient delays.
  • Partner with navigation staff to spot patients needing financial assistance, smoothly routing applications and emergency transit gas cards to them.
