About The Position

This position is for a Patient Registration Representative I in Hospital Admissions, working on a PRN/Pool basis. The role involves processing incoming and outgoing calls, interviewing patients or their representatives to gather necessary information for registration, scheduling appointments, and managing patient charts. A key part of the job is verifying insurance and payment eligibility using computer systems and online tools, as well as receiving, posting, and tracking payments, and collecting initial payments based on co-pay or deductible amounts. The representative will also complete administrative functions for the clinic as assigned by the Practice Administrator.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of one (1) year of customer service experience
Training in a medical practice preferred

Responsibilities

Processes incoming and outgoing calls efficiently and politely.
Interviews patient or representative to obtain and record in computer the patient name, address, age, persons to notify in case of emergency, attending Physician, and individual or insurance company responsible for payment of bill.
Schedules appointments and records all information in patient charts.
Checks insurance and payment eligibility in computer system and/or using online tools to ensure correct and accurate data is collected.
Receive, post and track all payments on accounts and collect initial payment based on co-pay or deductible amounts according to insurance eligibility portal data.
Completes administrative functions for the clinic as assigned by the Practice Administrator
