About The Position

Outpatient registration is a fast-paced environment with checking patients and transcribing orders. Teamwork and communication are imperative for this position. This position involves working 1-2 weekend days a month. The hours for this position will either be 830a-5p or 930a-6p with the final decision made by the interview. As a Patient Registration Rep, you will be the welcoming face and voice of Henry Ford Health, ensuring all patients receive a positive and efficient registration experience. You will support patients, visitors, and clinical/non-clinical staff by managing registration activities, verifying insurance eligibility, and advocating for patient needs. Your role is crucial in creating a loyal and satisfied patient community.

Requirements

High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
Ability to meet or exceed core customer service responsibilities, standards, and behaviors.

Nice To Haves

One (1) year of experience related to patient admitting, registration, and/or insurance eligibility and verification in a hospital or medical office setting.
EPIC training/experience and familiarity with insurance payor systems and ICD-10 medical terminology.

Responsibilities

Follow standard operating procedures for patient registration, including face-to-face check-in, preregistration, and insurance eligibility confirmation.
Perform new patient registration and update existing patient and insurance information.
Respond to inquiries from callers and customers, advocating on their behalf to meet their needs.
Manage cash collections and ensure accurate financial transactions.
Provide exceptional customer service over the telephone, in person, and in writing.
Instruct others on registration processes and procedures as needed.
