The Patient Registrar is responsible for engaging in positive interactions, providing helpful assistance, and managing patient arrivals and registrations in various departments such as the ER and Urgent Care. This role involves identifying patients in need of immediate care, prioritizing registration by complaint severity, and ensuring accurate electronic medical record entries to prevent errors. The registrar also handles demographic and billing information, verifies insurance, collects payments, and assists with patient coordination and pre-admission functions. Additionally, the role includes managing telephone inquiries, monitoring security systems, and providing excellent customer service, including service recovery. The Patient Registrar must be flexible, reliable, and able to work efficiently to meet the needs of multiple locations and patients, while maintaining a professional demeanor. They are also responsible for light cleaning duties in registration areas and completing assigned educational courses. Occasional alternate shifts, weekends, and overtime may be required.
