About The Position

Greets and assists patients upon arrival. Completes pre-registration, onsite registration, and check-in for all appointments. Facilitates all necessary workflows for scheduled and unscheduled patients. Performs extensive clerical duties, including but not limited to the following: answers phones, schedules patients, reviews insurance information with patients, verifies health plan benefit coverage and eligibility, and calls to confirm appointments.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook) and keyboarding.
  • Strong attention to details and highly organized.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize by level of importance.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Professional appearance.
  • Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Primarily sedentary; sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Occasional standing and walking throughout unit/office to retrieve records, deliver documents, or meet.
  • Ability to travel between departments and floors; able to use stairs and elevators as needed.
  • Occasionally lift and carry items up to 25 lbs.
  • Frequent handling of light items (up to 10 lbs).
  • Occasionally push/pull carts, file cabinets, or supply trolleys (force up to 25–30 lbs).
  • Frequent fine motor skills and bilateral hand use for typing, data entry, filing, stapling, and handling paperwork; frequent keyboard/mouse use.
  • Frequent repetitive hand, wrist, and finger movements for typing and office tasks.
  • Visual acuity (near and distance) sufficient for reading computer screens, printed records, labels, and small-print forms; ability to distinguish colors for charting/labeling.
  • Ability to hear and understand speech in person and on the telephone; clear verbal communication for patient/family/staff interactions.
  • Ability to work in a typical hospital office environment with variable noise, busy foot traffic, and occasional exposure to clinical areas; may be exposed to dust, cleaning chemicals, and latex (or latex alternatives).
  • Ability to concentrate, multitask, prioritize, follow procedures, and maintain accuracy under interruptions.
  • Ability to work scheduled shifts, including occasional overtime, early/late hours, weekends, or on-call duties if required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in an office setting or registering patients.
  • Knowledge of insurance and medical terminology.
