Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One (1) year as a Coordinator, Patient Access or Patient Placement in a hospital or healthcare setting

Responsibilities

  • Tracking patient placement needs and availability.
  • Expertly assigning beds across all hospital departments to optimize patient flow.
  • Coordinating bed assignments based on existing policies.
  • Collaborating closely with nursing and medical staff.
  • Continuously monitoring admissions, transfers, and discharges to maximize bed utilization and resolve bottlenecks.
  • Communicating bed changes to all involved departments.
  • Maintaining accurate automated systems.
  • Leveraging knowledge of medical terminology to facilitate appropriate preliminary bed assignments for discussion with clinical teams.
  • Demonstrating exceptional organizational skills.
  • Strong ability to manage real-time data.
  • Effective coordination with diverse clinical teams.
  • Independently determining safe and appropriate patient bed assignments based on patient admission criteria and documented diagnosis.
  • Prioritizing bed placement using age specific requirements, diagnosis and condition of patient.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines for admissions of patients as well as internal transfer of patients.
  • Accurately processing admissions, transfer and discharges in the clinical information system.
  • Monitoring patient admissions and making changes to patient status as appropriate requiring multiple system updating.
