Responsible for efficiently managing the admission, transfer, and discharge of patients including coordinating bed assignments, ensuring appropriate placement, and optimizing hospital resources to meet patient care needs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Admissions/Registration/Bed Management Experience 2-3 years required
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and the ability to understand patient medical records and physician orders.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and hospital information systems for patient data management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, families, healthcare providers, and hospital staff.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to manage patient placements in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem-solving skills to address challenges related to patient flow and bed availability.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment and prioritize tasks based on patient needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree Healthcare Management preferred
  • Associate's Degree Related Field of Study preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the process of admitting and placing patients in appropriate hospital units or departments based on their medical needs, bed availability, and hospital resources.
  • Collaborate with various hospital departments, including nursing units, emergency department, and surgery, to monitor bed availability, occupancy rates, and patient flow.
  • Review patient medical records, physician orders, and nursing assessments to determine the level of care required and suitable placement within the hospital.
  • Prioritize patient placement based on medical urgency, acuity, and available resources to ensure that critically ill patients receive immediate attention and appropriate care.
  • Optimize hospital resources and capacity by balancing patient admissions, transfers, and discharges to maintain efficient patient flow.
  • Address challenges related to bed availability, patient needs, and resource constraints to ensure a smooth patient placement process.
