About The Position

The Patient Navigator will triage phone/email inquiries, assist with pre-authorizations, maintain communication with various labs and insurances, and coordinate and schedule follow-up appointments. They will confirm all pertinent information has been received prior to scheduled appointments and prepare patient charts and test requisitions as needed, following through on send-outs and test ordering. The role involves tracking all testing, studies, and consultations, organizing test results, and assisting with notifying patients/providers of negative test results as needed. The Patient Navigator will also coordinate the send-out of completed clinic summaries and result reports to families/providers, act as a liaison to facilitate communication with and execute various requests from internal and external providers, and connect patients with Resource Services and/or other hospital resources if necessary. Other duties may be assigned, such as maintaining a clinical database.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years of medical office experience
  • Highly-motivated, independent thinker and self-starter
  • Enthusiastic team player who takes initiative
  • Excellent organizational, planning, interpersonal and time management skills
  • Able to manage multiple projects
  • Strong follow-up and communication skills necessary
  • Requires attention to detail and computer accuracy as pertains to data entry, patient scheduling and competence on basic office machines
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Strong attention to detail/follow up skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel and Word)

Nice To Haves

  • Patient navigator experience is strongly preferred
  • Bi-lingual (fluent in Spanish) strongly preferred
