About The Position

This role is within the Community Outreach department and focuses on improving the health and quality of life for community residents by reducing barriers to healthcare access. The position involves acting as a Medical Assistant on a Mobile Health Unit, scheduling and coordinating medical pop-ups, and engaging residents in health education. Duties include door-to-door outreach, community canvassing, and playing a critical role in the school-based medical and dental program. This is a fast-paced environment requiring multitasking skills.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • CMA/RMA (Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant)
  • Active CPR Certification
  • Microsoft Office Suite knowledge (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to perform accurate health screenings (Vitals, etc.)
  • Experience and passion for working with children
  • At least three years in a clinical setting
  • Be able to work outside on mobile medical unit.
  • NJ Driver’s License – the Ability to provide own form of reliable transportation
  • Fingerprinted by NJ Department of Education
  • Can work inside Cumberland County Jail clearance required
  • Bi-lingual required (Spanish Speaking)

Responsibilities

  • Markets program through in-person outreach in Cape May, Cumberland, and Gloucester Counties.
  • Chaperones medical and dental groups.
  • Provide health screenings, referrals, and information.
  • Help people complete applications to access health benefits.
  • Be knowledgeable about community resources appropriate to the needs of patients/families.
  • Visit Migrant / Farm Camps (May-Oct) providing health screenings.
  • Provides Disney Style customer service to both internal and external partners.
  • Attend Health events in churches, schools, community events, etc.
  • Distribute flyers, brochures, or other informational or educational documents to inform members of a targeted community.
  • Check patient insurance and Eligibility requirements.
  • Check Health Records.
