About The Position

The Patient Mobility Associate performs mobility techniques in accordance with departmental protocols and standards. They educate patients and families on the need to reposition and encourage patients who can reposition independently to do so. This role is also responsible for the timely, courteous, and competent transportation of patients as needed. Additionally, the associate performs messenger services such as retrieval and delivery of products and/or equipment to appropriate areas, and provides assistance to all nursing/ancillary personnel to facilitate patient care activities.

Requirements

• High school Graduate or equivalent.
• Current CPR/BLS as approved by the American Heart Association.
• There is a reasonable expectation that employees in this position will be exposed to blood-borne pathogens.

Responsibilities

• Perform mobility techniques in accordance with departmental protocols and standards.
• Educate the patient and family on the need to reposition.
• Encourage patients who can reposition independently to do so.
• Timely, courteous, and competent transportation of patients as needed.
• Perform messenger services such as retrieval and delivery of products and/or equipment to appropriate areas.
• Provide assistance to all nursing/ancillary personnel to facilitate patient care activities.
• Identify the patients who require turning and repositioning.
• Provide explanation to the patient you are planning to reposition.
• Identify conditions causing patients not to reposition themselves.
