About The Position

The Patient Flow Enhancer is responsible for assisting with direct and indirect care as needed. Assists with cleaning, stocking, patient transport, quality management, data entry, tending to patients and visitors, aiding with patient specimen collection, and completion of paperwork. Facilitates the flow of incoming patients by bringing them to the appropriate unit and room. Keeps nurses and providers informed of current/upcoming patients. Performs basic technical skills in the provision of patient care, such as assisting with bathing, feeding, transporting, providing basic first aid, and ambulating patients. Specifics may be dependent upon the assigned unit. Responds to patient call lights and offers assistance to patients and families. Reports any concerns to the appropriate Registered Nurse. Accurately collects and documents various forms of data, including but not limited to demographics, vital signs, intake and output, and weights. Makes sure patient's chart remains accurate. Assists with specimen collection, preparing patients for procedures, and ensuring that side rails are up on beds and call lights are within reach. Straightens patient rooms and other spaces in the unit and maintains adequate inventory of necessary supplies. Restocks supplies and paperwork as needed. Helps patients and families stay informed of any progress or potential delays and provides basic directions and information to visitors. Regular attendance is required in order to carry out the essential functions of the position. Reviews and meets ongoing competency requirements of the role to maintain the skills, knowledge, and abilities to perform, within scope, role specific functions. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must have hands on patient experience obtained through work experience, clinical rotation, or course work.
  • Must also have customer service experience.
  • BCLS within 30 days of hire/transfer.
  • If working in Med/Surg/Peds, must have Michigan Nurse Aide certification within 3 months of hire/transfer.
