About The Position

Coordinates the organization’s efforts to assist patients in enrolling in appropriate financial and social plans/programs and follows up on non-payment of patient accounts. Maintain the PFS schedule and participate in peer audits for slide applications.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform each essential function duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • High School Diploma or equivalency.
  • Experience in professional public contact.
  • Knowledge of medical and social programs.
  • Directly related experience.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Good interpersonal and human relations skills are required.
  • Must possess skills to empathize and care for a variety of patients, including low-income and diverse cultures and treat everyone (internal and external customers) with respect and dignity.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times in all situations and follow the laws and intent of the most current HIPAA laws and regulations and Canyonlands’ security and privacy policies.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) plus year of directly related experience.
  • Experience in billing and collections helpful.
  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish/Navajo) language skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft programs with the ability to effectively communicate using Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Meets with all patients (or their responsible party) not enrolled in an insurance or AHCCCS plan and reviews their financial status to determine if they are eligible for medical financial aid and/or other social or pharmaceutical programs.
  • Assists patient with Insurance Market Place.
  • Maintain CAC certification.
  • Enrolls eligible patients into the sliding fee scale program and Kids Care and requalifies them yearly.
  • Generates letters and phone calls as governed by the Center’s financial policy and state/federal regulation to encourage the patient or their responsible party to fulfill their financial commitments to the Center.
  • Codes OH charges; reflecting correct charges are billed to employer.
  • Assists at front reception desk as needed.
  • Complies with CHC Standards of Conduct, Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance.
  • Reviews and researches all returned mail.
  • Submits periodic reports to the Customer Service Coordinator on numbers of contacts successfully made and number enrolled on public assistance CHC financial aid program.
  • Understands role in Disaster Plan and that safety is a condition of employment.
  • Follows CHC’s policies and procedures.
  • Serves on various CHC and community committees as required/requested.
  • Attends meetings, seminars, and conferences as appropriate to ensure skills and knowledge remains current.
  • Other duties as assigned
