About The Position

The Patient Financial Services Representative (PFSR) is the first point of contact for patients and guarantors in a hospital, ambulatory, or medical office setting. The representative gathers and verifies demographic, financial, and insurance eligibility information; answers questions; and ensures required notices and consent forms are completed and signed. The role includes insurance verification and authorization work, patient registration and financial counseling, collecting payments, providing estimates, and supporting scheduling and discharge activities where applicable. Responsibilities vary by setting. In Memorial Physician Group specialty practices, duties also include specialty authorizations, authorization denials and peer-to-peer processes, appointment and procedure scheduling, handling incoming calls, and obtaining and confirming referrals. The job description lists physical activities and workplace exposures, including frequent keyboard and computer-monitor use, sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and repetitive hand/arm movement, along with potential exposure to biological hazards and other workplace conditions.
