About The Position

Patient Financial Services (PFS) Manager at Gunnison Valley Health. This role involves managing the back-end revenue cycle operations, including billing, cash posting, and customer service. The manager will also oversee vendor performance, analyze data for key performance indicators (KPIs) and AR/cash performance reporting, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations such as IRS 501(r), No Surprises Act, Colorado Hospital Discounted Care, and FDCPA/TCPA collection requirements. The position requires implementing patient-centered service recovery and de-escalation strategies, and excelling in cross-functional stakeholder meetings with strong communication and influence skills. Staff supervision and performance management are also key responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 5 years hospital billing, collections, or patient financial experience.
  • Minimum 2 years supervisory or lead experience in a healthcare revenue cycle setting.
  • Experience with payment posting, cash reconciliation, credit balance resolution, and refund processing.
  • Experience managing self-pay accounts, receivables, statement cycles, early out and collection agency vendor relationship management & contract oversight and patient payment plans.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Excel.
  • Working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and commercial payer billing requirements including UB-04/8371 and CMS 1500/837P claim formats.
  • AAHAM certification (CRCP/CRCE) or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field is preferred.
  • EPIC community connect experience strongly preferred.
  • CAH, rural health or community hospital revenue cycle experience.

Responsibilities

  • Run the back end revenue cycle operations management across billing, cash posting, and customer service.
  • Manage vendor performance, scorecard development, and contract accountability, while focusing on root cause analysis and systemic issue resolution.
  • Analyze data for KPI development, and AR/cash performance reporting.
  • Utilize knowledge of IRS 501(r), No Surprises Act, Colorado Hospital Discounted Care, and FDCPA/TCPA collection requirements.
  • Understand and implement patient centered service recovery and de-escalation or billing concerns.
  • Provide an analytical, persistent and solution oriented mindset while excelling in cross functional stakeholder meetings with excellent communication skills and influence.
  • Perform staff supervision and performance management.
