About The Position

Jefferson Healthcare is seeking a full-time Patient Financial Counselor to join their team. This role is crucial in supporting patients by connecting them with healthcare funding sources. Responsibilities include reviewing accounts for accuracy and completeness, answering questions about patient bills and estimates, and providing guidance on payment plan options and maintenance. This position is part of the revenue cycle team and requires a high degree of professionalism, the ability to navigate challenging situations, and interpret information. Essential skills include attention to detail, critical thinking, and a customer service mindset to ensure a smooth patient healthcare experience.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required
Customer Service training and experience required
Effective written and verbal communication skills required
Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and Commercial Insurance remits required
Recent experience in a medical registration role is a must
Ability to multitask

Nice To Haves

Financial counseling, billing or other hospital revenue cycle experience
Worked as a health insurance agent or similar
Strong background in customer service
Ability to clearly and effectively communicate to a diverse patient population
Interested in program/process improvement
EMR experience, especially with Epic is a plus
2+ years working in a business office setting preferred, ideally financial in nature
Proficiency with typing and working knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred
