About The Position

Bingham Healthcare is seeking a compassionate, resourceful, and service-driven Patient Financial Advocate to join our Patient Financial Services team. Healthcare can be confusing, especially when insurance coverage, financial assistance, and medical costs become part of the conversation. As a Patient Financial Advocate, you'll serve as a trusted guide for patients and families—helping them understand their options, navigate available resources, and remove financial barriers to receiving the care they need. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Strong organizational, computer, and mathematical skills
  • Ability to communicate professionally with patients, families, providers, insurance companies, and community agencies

Nice To Haves

  • Previous healthcare, insurance, patient access, customer service, financial services, or related experience preferred
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of insurance plans, financial assistance programs, and healthcare processes preferred

Responsibilities

  • Meet with self-pay patients and families to discuss available financial resources and assistance programs
  • Help patients complete Medicaid, Social Security, County Assistance, and other financial assistance applications
  • Educate patients about insurance coverage, deductibles, co-insurance, and estimated financial responsibility
  • Assist patients in establishing payment arrangements that align with hospital policies
  • Listen with compassion and provide personalized guidance throughout the financial process
  • Work with physician offices to review financial responsibilities before scheduled services
  • Obtain required insurance pre-authorizations when appropriate
  • Meet with pre-admission patients to explain insurance benefits and estimated out-of-pocket costs
  • Coordinate financial arrangements for specialized services, including adoption-related deliveries
  • Partner with Admissions, Billing, Providers, Case Management, and other departments to ensure a seamless patient experience
  • Communicate effectively with insurance companies, government agencies, attorneys, and community resources
  • Maintain accurate documentation and patient financial records
  • Support other Patient Financial Services functions and assist with department operations as needed
