The Patient Financial Advocate is responsible for screening patients on-site at hospitals for eligibility assistance programs either bedside or in the ER. This includes providing information and reports to client contact(s), keeping them current on our progress. The role involves reviewing hospital census or utilizing established referral methods to identify self-pay patients, screening them for State, County, and/or Federal eligibility assistance programs, and initiating the application process bedside when possible. The advocate will introduce patients to Firstsource services, inform them of regular progress updates, and provide transitions to backend Patient Advocate Specialists. Responsibilities also include recording patient information, documenting screening results in tracking tools and hospital systems, identifying and reviewing outpatient/ER accounts, and conducting face-to-face screenings or telephone attempts. Outside field work, including patient home visits, may be required. Additional duties include maintaining positive working relationships with hospital staff, reporting occurrences to management, accessing information for Patient Advocate Specialists, keeping logs of referred accounts, meeting goals, maintaining confidentiality, keeping a neat workstation, adhering to policies, and participating in the Corporate Compliance Program.
