About The Position

The Patient Enrichment Assistant role functions as a support to staff who provide direct care to patients, encompassing both clinical support and non-clinical duties. This position performs duties assigned by clinical and administrative leadership and involves collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to maximize the quality of life for residents. The assistant interacts directly with patients by answering call lights, distributing water and food, gathering belongings, and performing other assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Experience in a healthcare, caregiver, recreational therapy setting, or related work.
  • Proficient interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to engage patients in activities that promote emotional and social well-being.
  • Empathy and patience in working with patients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with nursing and support staff.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in responding to changing patient needs.

  • 1-2 years experience in a healthcare, caregiver, recreational therapy setting, or related work

Responsibilities

  • Function as a support to staff who provide direct care to patients, including clinical support duties and non-clinical duties.
  • Perform duties assigned by clinical and administrative leadership.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to maximize the quality of life for the residents.
  • Interact with patients by answering call lights, distributing water and food, gathering belongings, and other assigned duties.
  • Provide room preparation assistance in anticipation of new admission.
  • Store patient supplies and equipment in accordance with infection control and safety policies.
  • Monitor patients at risk for safety issues per established guidelines.
  • Assist patients with non-clinical needs, such as meal assistance and companionship.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff to identify patient needs and preferences for enrichment activities.
  • Engage patients in recreational activities that promote mental and emotional well-being.
  • Support the emotional and social needs of patients by providing a listening ear and positive interaction.
  • Assist with the setup and facilitation of special events or programs for patients.
  • Communicate regularly with family members and visitors to enhance patient experiences.
