About The Position

Copley Hospital is seeking a Patient Engagement Specialist - Tier II (Call Center) to join their Mansfield Orthopaedics practice. This role is crucial for managing patient flow into outpatient services through referrals. The Call Center Team serves as the initial point of contact for patients, and every interaction must be positive and supportive. Specialists will communicate with staff, patients, physicians, and providers to ensure a seamless and positive experience for patients seeking appointments. The role requires providing courteous and professional phone support, answering calls promptly, and demonstrating strong listening and communication skills.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One (1) year experience in a medical office setting as an administrative assistant, scheduler, or similar function.
  • Excellent telephone skills and etiquette.
  • Organized.
  • Good follow-up abilities.
  • Personable, establishes patient rapport.
  • Able to put patients at ease.
  • Some computer skills.
  • Comfortable with multitasking.

Nice To Haves

  • Post high school education is desirable, e.g., associates degree in business, secretarial science, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Answer calls courteously within 3 rings.
  • Register and perform all related functions for Time of Service Patients, including explaining and obtaining necessary consents, collecting financial paperwork, determining and collecting co-payments, counting and verifying cash and payments with 100% accuracy, and processing cancellations.
  • Obtain and verify patient information for pre-registration, including gathering relevant information from scheduling offices and confirming appointments with patients.
  • Schedule special diagnostic tests for clinic patients as per provider orders, communicating with testing services, confirming appointments with patients, obtaining screening information, and informing patients of procedure details and follow-up appointments.
  • Perform all functions associated with scheduling appointments for patients, including communicating with patients, physicians, and staff via telephone.
  • Enter and reconcile patient charges prior to posting to patient accounts.
  • Process and resolve non-patient encounter paperwork.
