Patient Educator II, Doula Navigator

About The Position

The Patient Educator II will serve as the point person to connect all eligible patients to doulas as part of a doula navigation pilot. They will provide education to clinicians, care team members and patients to ensure an understanding of the doula’s role as well as how to request and retain the services of a doula from the prenatal to postpartum period. The Patient Educator II will also establish relationships with doulas and doula communities and serve as a liaison with the care team. The ideal individual would be a trained doula that has existing relationships with doula communities. The ideal candidate has a demonstrated ability to connect with patients, providers and community partners. While this person will interface directly with patients, they will engage with pilot partners in efforts to identify successes of the pilot and opportunities to improve. While not required, it would be preferred to have an individual who is a trained doula but also has experience serving in healthcare settings as a care team member (e.g. Medical Assistant, nursing aid, EMT etc.). The ideal candidate will also have experience and/or demonstrated comfortability with maintaining data documentation via systems such as Microsoft Excel, electronic health records, Redcap, etc.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
2 years of recent relevant experience.
Mastery of basic computer skills.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and verbal skills.
Self-directed, able to set priorities and work independently.
Familiar with medical terminology.

Nice To Haves

Trained doula.
Existing relationships with doula communities.
Demonstrated ability to connect with patients, providers, and community partners.
Experience serving in healthcare settings as a care team member (e.g., Medical Assistant, nursing aid, EMT etc.).
Experience and/or demonstrated comfortability with maintaining data documentation via systems such as Microsoft Excel, electronic health records, Redcap, etc.
Spanish speaking skills.

Responsibilities
