About The Position

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is a 306-bed medical center providing care to residents of eastern Long Island. The hospital facility is home to the Knapp Cardiac Care Center, an advanced heart disease diagnostic and treatment facility, as well as a modern ambulatory surgical pavilion with specialized services including women's imaging, a sleep laboratory, and bariatric surgery. Our Provisional Level 2 Trauma Center delivers comprehensive and specialized care for patients with traumatic injuries. The Stroke Center at NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is designated by the New York State Department of Health as a Primary Stroke Center, with expert neurologists available to provide treatment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Additionally, NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk has multiple outpatient sites, including an outpatient wound care center, a hemodialysis center, and various primary care and specialty offices. We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Patient Coordinator - Infusion Department- Full Time, Days - PCC-Suffolk-Infusion - Monday - Friday 9:00AM-5:00PM; Alternating Saturdays (7:45AM-3:45PM). In this role, the successful candidate As a Patient Coordinator, you will be responsible for ensuring that appropriate patient treatment plans are followed. Coordinates follow-up care plan needs for patients by scheduling appointments or enrolling members in programs, assesses member compliance with medical treatment plans via telephone or through on-site visits.

Requirements

  • Experience with word processing and computer databases required.
  • Strong oral and written, multitasking, detail oriented, organizational, customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One year of office experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of office experience preferred.
  • 1-2 years scheduling experience in a medical office or a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

  • Create a customer friendly environment utilizing exemplary customer service skills.
  • Greet patients upon entry to the unit, obtain demographic information from patients and family, pre-register patients scheduled for the unit, support the operational flow of the infusion unit and maintain a well-organized and friendly environment.
  • Interview patients to complete documents, case histories, and forms such as intake and insurance forms.
  • Compile and record medical charts, reports, and correspondence using a computer and various software programs.
  • Transmit correspondence and medical records by mail, email, or fax.
  • Schedule and confirm patient diagnostic appointments, surgeries, and medical consultations.
  • Appropriately communicate with PAT and patient access for pending procedures.
  • Answer telephones and direct calls to appropriate staff.
  • Receive and route messages and documents such as laboratory results to appropriate staff.
  • Maintain medical records, technical library, and correspondence files.
  • Perform various clerical and administrative functions such as ordering and maintaining an inventory of supplies.
  • Retrieve and enter patient lab results and medication profiles, including follow up on any additional required or outstanding documentation.
  • Complete patient charts upon discharge along with documenting patient care-related activities and maintaining patient records.
  • Manage all paperwork or supportive documentation required for performing effective billing and forwards to billing department.
  • Communicate effectively to patients regarding procedural instructions.
  • Communicate effectively with referring physician offices and acquire all required documentation needed to schedule procedure.
  • Assist with all other duties as required.

Benefits

  • The salary range for the role is $40,260.72 - $53,787.64 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
