About The Position

The Patient Companion Virtual Care position, also known as a sitter, is part of the Sitters Department and offers an opportunity to innovate healthcare. This role involves professional advancement opportunities and strong teamwork and collaboration. The position is located at 8200 Walnut Hill Ln., Dallas, TX, and operates on a PRN basis with rotating hours from 6:45 am to 7:15 pm. Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas is a leading healthcare provider in North Texas with over half a century of service, offering comprehensive services including cancer care, cardiology, neurosciences, women's services, and emergency medicine. It is a Joint Commission-certified Comprehensive Stroke Center, Level I Trauma Center, and Comprehensive Heart Attack Center, and a designated Magnet hospital.

Requirements

H.S. Diploma or Equivalent is required
1 Year Experience in an patient care setting/role such as Nurse Aide's, Patient Care Tech, Monitor Tech, or other nursing support role. is required
Basic computer skills, data entry required.
Job requires sitting for prolonged periods.
Proficient communication.
Use of hands, vision-color, hearing, speaking.
Attention to detail.
Organization and prioritization skills.
Manages stress appropriately.

Responsibilities

Utilizes the technology required for virtual patient observation and interventions for safe patient care.
Demonstrates competency in the set-up and ongoing use of virtual patient observation monitoring software, computer hardware, and communication devices.
Collaborates with hospital unit nursing staff to set up camera to optimize patient visibility and conduct positive patient identification.
Assures alarms are activated with appropriate settings and are sufficiently audible.
Maintains continuous visual observation of multiple patients at one time on a monitor; assures a co-worker is monitoring assigned patients during breaks or other temporary situations when unable to maintain continuous observation (e.g., when engaged in two-way video call).
Redirects patients promptly to maintain patient safety.
