About The Position

Grapefruit Health is a healthcare services company focused on addressing the healthcare staffing shortage by employing and training clinical students. They utilize these students to conduct remote, telephonic patient interactions using their proprietary software. This approach benefits patients by providing timely support, helps healthcare organizations expand their capacity, and offers students valuable patient communication experience prior to graduation. As a PharmD student, you will have the chance to apply your developing communication, patient-centered care, and medication knowledge in a practical setting, gaining real-world experience interacting with patients.

Requirements

  • Must be based in the U.S. and a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be actively enrolled in an accredited PharmD program at a university in the U.S.
  • Strong interest in patient care and improving the patient experience.
  • Strong verbal communication skills or a genuine desire to develop them.
  • An interest in applying pharmacy education beyond the classroom.
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
  • Able to commit to a minimum of 6 hours per week.
  • Access to a compatible computer and cell phone with SMS capabilities.
  • A quiet, private workspace free of background noise and distractions.
  • Submit a two-minute or less video explaining suitability for Grapefruit Health and the importance of telephonic care training for clinicians.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct structured, phone-based interactions with patients on behalf of partner healthcare organizations.
  • Check in with patients, complete assessments, and support care-gap closure using the Grapefruit Health platform and established protocols.
  • Escalate concerns to licensed clinical supervisors when appropriate.
  • Engage patients in conversations about their healthcare needs, potentially including medication use and adherence, preventive care, chronic conditions, and post-discharge follow-up.
  • Complete a minimum of 6 hours of patient outreach per week on a flexible schedule.
  • Document interaction outcomes accurately within the platform.
  • Maintain strict HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
  • Participate in onboarding training and ongoing team check-ins.
