About The Position

The Patient Care Technician provides selected patient care activities on a medical unit under the direction of an RN. The role requires excellent customer service, teamwork, compassionate and timely responses to patient requests and call lights, and the ability to recognize changes in a patient's condition and report them to the appropriate person. The technician also assists with patient admissions, discharges, and transfers. The schedule is 0645–1915. Care is provided according to treatment plans and the needs of the population served on the unit, while maintaining accurate documentation and complying with laws and regulations regarding patient information.

Requirements

Current Kansas Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification, completion of a Medical Assistant program (CMA), current EMT training certification, or completion of one year of nursing school.
Current BLS certification.
Excellent customer service skills and ability to work as part of a team.

Prior patient care experience.

Responsibilities

Provide direct care in accordance with treatment plans, as directed by the charge nurse, RN, or nursing director.
Accompany patients to treatments throughout the facility.
Complete required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
Perform and assist with patient lifts, transfers, positioning, and ambulation.
Observe, report, and document questionable patient conditions to the RN on duty.
Assist with patient meals and bathing as directed.
Perform nursing care according to the population served on the unit, as referenced in the Administrative, Scope of Services Policy.
Comply with laws and regulations in maintaining patient information.
Assist with patient admissions, discharges, and transfers.
Respond compassionately to patient requests and call lights in a timely manner.
Recognize changes in patient condition and report them to the appropriate person.
