About The Position
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) is a vital member of the collaborative nursing team, supporting Registered Nurses in providing hands-on patient care and helping create a safe, welcoming environment. The role assists with patients’ daily needs, including vital signs, mobility, and personal care, and helps RNs monitor patient conditions and carry out care plans. The PCT uses attention, empathy, and teamwork to promote comfort and dignity for patients. The position supports patient preparation, mobility, transfers, and comfort; provides non-medicated care; and helps keep patient and common areas clean, organized, and stocked. It also involves managing supplies, equipment, and logs to support infection control and team readiness, and communicating with patients, families, and the care team to support safety and quality.
Requirements
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
Responsibilities
- Assist with patient preparation, mobility, transfers, and comfort to support care and recovery.
- Provide non-medicated care, including dressing changes, skin protection, and use of supportive devices.
- Keep patient areas and common spaces clean, organized, and stocked.
- Manage supplies, equipment, and logs to support infection control and team readiness.
- Communicate kindly with patients, families, and the care team to support safety and quality.
- Support Registered Nurses with monitoring patient conditions and carrying out care plans.
- Assist with daily patient needs such as vital signs, mobility, and personal care.
