About The Position

The Patient Care Technician provides patient care in the assigned service, considering patients’ physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and age-related needs. The role supports safe and effective patient outcomes through sound practice, judgment, and timely action, and involves ongoing communication with patients, nursing colleagues, and other healthcare team members about patient status and care provided. The technician takes initiative to improve job performance and contribute beyond basic expectations, collaborates with the interdisciplinary team on care plans from admission through discharge, and participates in unit or department performance-improvement activities. Candidates who meet other requirements but have not completed a qualifying training program may be considered for the HMH PCT Apprenticeship Program and, if selected, initially hired as a PCT Apprentice. Successful completion of that program results in transfer to the Patient Care Technician role.
