About The Position

The Patient Care Technician performs tasks supportive to the delivery of patient care in assigned departments under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. This position is full-time, night shift, in the Med Surg department.

Requirements

• Meet one of the specified qualification pathways: hold active Florida licensure as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Paramedic; serve as a military Hospital Corpsman, Combat Medic Specialist, or Aerospace Medical Service Specialist; or hold national EMT licensure, maintaining the applicable credential as active during employment.
• Alternatively, nursing students eligible for the CNA exam must be currently enrolled in or graduated from an accredited RN/LPN nursing school; if enrolled, have completed the first semester of clinical study for an ASN/BSN degree or the first trimester for an LPN program; and not currently hold a U.S. RN or LPN license.
• Alternatively, provide certification of successful completion of a Florida State Board-approved PCT or CNA program and successfully obtain a Florida CNA license within 120 days of graduation.
• High school diploma, GED, or certificate.
• Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification.
• Individuals providing care to vulnerable populations must undergo background screening through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.

Nice To Haves

• Working knowledge of commonly used computer applications.
