About The Position
Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Patient Care Technician assists nursing staff in providing basic nursing care to non-acutely ill patients, including personal hygiene, activities of daily living, and mobility. The position also helps maintain a safe and clean environment and may transport medications as defined and authorized by Pharmacy Services. This is a full-time, day-shift position on the 7th Floor Med/Surg. The schedule is 12-hour shifts, with 12.50 hours worked and an FTE of 0.9. The pay range is $18–$23 per hour.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Complete basic life support and behavior management training by the end of the probationary period and maintain both while in the position.
Responsibilities
- Correctly identify patients before performing interventions or providing care.
- Report changes in or concerns about patients and families to the primary caregiver.
- Observe, collect, document, and report intake and output, vital signs (temperature, radial pulse, respiration, and blood pressure), and weights.
- Provide bathing, oral and hair care, bed making, ambulation, positioning, and toileting.
- Help maintain a safe and clean environment.
- Transport medications when required and as defined and authorized by Pharmacy Services.
- Perform other duties as required.
