About The Position

Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Patient Care Technician assists nursing staff in providing basic nursing care to non-acutely ill patients, including personal hygiene, activities of daily living, and mobility. The role also helps maintain a safe and clean environment. The technician may be required to transport medications as defined and authorized by Pharmacy Services.

The position is on the 8th Floor Med/Surg unit and is scheduled for days, with 12.5 hours worked per shift and a 0.75 FTE. The listed pay range is $18–$23 per hour.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Complete basic life support and behavior management training by the end of the probationary period and maintain the required training while in the position.

Responsibilities

• Correctly identify patients before performing interventions or providing care.
• Report patient or family changes and concerns to the primary caregiver.
• Observe, collect, document, and report intake and output, vital signs (temperature, radial pulse, respiration, and blood pressure), and weights.
• Provide bathing, oral and hair care, bed making, ambulation, positioning, and toileting.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment.
• Transport medications when required and as defined and authorized by Pharmacy Services.
• Perform other duties as required.
