About The Position

Emory Healthcare is seeking a Patient Care Technician for Emory Midtown Hospital. This role is responsible for providing quality patient care and ensuring patient safety under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or LPN. The position involves performing assigned patient care and observation duties, operating clinical equipment, assisting with emergencies and procedures, collecting specimens, and maintaining hospital competencies. The technician will also ensure patient comfort and hygiene, comply with safety and infection control standards, and assist with various medical equipment and devices.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • BLS required.
  • One year of direct patient care experience, OR Successful completion of a nursing assistant training course, OR Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license through State of Georgia, OR Current enrollment in a nursing program and completion of 2 clinical rotations.

Responsibilities

  • Performs assigned patient care and observation duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or LPN.
  • Cleans the patient's room.
  • Operates various clinical equipment.
  • Helps with emergencies.
  • Assists with patient procedures.
  • Collects and transports patient specimens.
  • Completes applicable forms.
  • Maintains hospital and unit-specific competencies.
  • Assists in emergency situations as directed by an RN/LPN.
  • Ensures that prescribed measures related to hygiene, comfort, and rest are provided.
  • Complies with Standard Precautions guidelines, Infection Control procedures, and safety standards to maintain and promote a clean and healthy work environment.
  • Assists in the use of bag-valve-mask device, anti-embolism stockings, pneumatic compression stockings, oxygen, suction equipment, incentive spirometer, emergency cart and bedside glucose monitoring machine.
  • Operates converter chair, lifts, scales, beds, stretchers, wheelchairs, non-invasive BP monitors, automatic thermometer, sphygmomanometer, pulse oximeter, and computers.
