About The Position

The Patient Care Technician provides patient-related care tasks based on growth and development principles across the life span of patients served in the assigned unit. The technician assists with and observes patient care, reports changes to a licensed caregiver, and maintains accurate medical record documentation related to the care delivered. This is a full-time day-shift position in the Medical/Surgical Unit at Osborn Medical Center in Scottsdale, Arizona. The schedule consists of three 12-hour shifts from 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM, with self-scheduling for shifts and weekend coverage. Scheduled workdays may vary, with no set or fixed days. Weekend and holiday rotations are required. Weekend differentials are offered, as are evening and night shift differentials where applicable.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Completion of Block 1 in Nursing, or qualification as a Medical Assistant (MA), Nursing Assistant (NA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Behavioral Health Technician (BHT), or six months of experience in a healthcare setting within the last year.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Nice To Haves

Six months of acute care experience.
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) license.

Responsibilities

Provide and collaborate on direct patient care services under the direct supervision of a licensed caregiver.
Assist with personal care, activities of daily living, vital signs, intake and output, ambulation, interventions, and implementation of selected portions of the patient care plan as directed by a nurse.
Assist with, observe, and report changes in patient condition to a licensed caregiver.
Maintain accurate medical record documentation related to care delivered.
Address or direct questions and concerns from patients, families, caregivers, or health care team members.
Perform other duties as assigned.
