Patient Care Technician- KM-7 Cardiology
About The Position
When you join the growing BILH team, you're not just taking a job, you’re making a difference in people’s lives. KM-7 specialize in the care of patients post-operative cardiac and thoracic surgery. You will be instrumental in helping the nurses on the med/surg/intermediate care in assisting our patients in their recovery. This role collaborates with an inpatient nursing team to provide quality patient care. Reporting to a registered nurse, this person is someone enrolled in a University's Co-op program and seeking additional hands-on experience. Training, evaluation and competencies for this role are overseen by an Accountable Nurse Leader to the department.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required.
- 0-1 years related work experience required.
- Patient care experience required through any of the following areas: CNA, MA, EMT, PCT certificate or completion of BIDMC in-house training program or Allied Health, Pre Med, and Physician Assistant candidates or Home Health Aide experience.
- Enrolled in a University's Co-op program.
- Basic familiarity with computers. Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications.

- Employees in this job must be competent to provide patient care to the following age groups: Neonatal:Birth to 6 months, Young adult: 16-30 years, Middle Age: 30 - 60 years, Elderly: 60 -.
Responsibilities
- Provides basic supportive care to patients including specific treatments and procedures related to Activities of Daily Living.
- Develops and maintains competencies as delegated by a registered nurse including sterile dressing changes.
- Collaborates with nursing staff to determine patient care plans.
- Reports all patient activity to the Registered Nurse in a timely manner.
