About The Position

Baystate Health, a nationally recognized leader in healthcare quality and safety, and home to Baystate Medical Center (BMC), is looking for Full Time Patient Care Technician to join our Wesson 3 team in Springfield, MA. This is a Full-time position with 36 hours per week, working from 7pm to 7:30am, including rotating weekends and holidays. The Wesson 3 unit is a 24-bed Renal/Acute Dialysis/Medical Surgical Unit with telemetry monitoring, serving adult patients aged 22-100+. The unit cares for patients with various diagnoses including renal/dialysis, sepsis, cellulitis, behavioral health, GI bleed, kidney transplant, syncope, and respiratory issues. It is a collaborative environment that supports a diverse and medically complex population. Patient Care Technicians (PCT) play a hands-on role in delivering compassionate, high-quality care alongside the nursing team. Under the supervision of an RN, PCTs assist with direct patient care, including hygiene, mobility, and vital sign monitoring. They perform clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, EKGs, specimen collection, and Point of Care testing. This role also includes assisting with procedures, patient transport, equipment management, and supporting emergency response protocols. Strong communication, teamwork, and a commitment to patient safety are essential.

Requirements

  • BLS CPR Certification through American Heart Association, required (for all levels)
  • PCT training or CNA training, preferred (Level I)
  • High School diploma or GED (Level II, III, IV)
  • At least one year of patient care experience (Level II)
  • Three or more years of patient care experience OR at least one year as a level II PCT at Baystate Health (Level III)
  • 4 or more years of Acute or specialty-specific care setting experience OR at least one year as a level III PCT at Baystate Health (Level IV)

Nice To Haves

  • PCT training or CNA training, preferred (Level I)
